I love Fall: the rich colours, the romance of the slightly chilled air, and the fact that I get to live in my Uggs without feeling like a bum. The Autumn makeup looks for this season look just as warm and inviting as my chocolate coloured Uggs. I’ve picked out two different smokey eye looks for you to replicate. Here’s the first one.

Because of the base I used on my lid, the flash makes the colour look more purple than it actually is. The lid colour is a rich chocolate brown that looks good enough to eat (Illamasqua’s “Wolf”). I’ve done a step-by-step pictorial for you below, so let’s do this.

As I have previously mentioned, you need to start off by applying concealer beneath your groomed brows and on your lid. This helps to even out any discoloration and makes whatever shadow you apply look smoother and more pulled together. If you have greasy eyelids like me, apply an eye shadow primer like Urban Decay’s Priming Potion like I have.

1. Start by applying a warm, mid-tone colour into and slightly above the crease. This colour should be at least one shade darker than your natural skin tone, but doesn’t have brown. Use a fluffy blending brush for this exercise.

2. Apply a creamy base to your eyelids. The colour should be dark and similar in tone to the eye shadow that you will apply. I didn’t have a brown creamy base, so I just mixed purple and burgundy together before applying a brown shadow. It produced and interesting effect. Go crazy and experiment.

3. Apply a dark shadow to your lids. The key is that the colour you apply to your lid needs to be at least two shades darker than your skin tone. Make sure to blend the edges of the deeper colour up into the crease so that it gradually fades into that first colour you applied.

4. Apply a lighter colour just below your brow bone. This colour can be matte or shimmery, depending on your preference. I don’t recommend an overly frosty or glittery shadow here. Just make sure the colour is lighter than your skin tone. If you applied a concealer that’s a bit lighter than your skin tone, then this can suffice.

5. Tightline below your top lashes, and line your waterline inside your lower lashes. Dark eyeliner reinforces the smokeyness of the look.

6. Apply eyeliner to your lid and just below your lower lashes.
And there you have it. Tune in tomorrow for the full FOTD, including a list of products used.
